4(B)

I.              The name of the Office is State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission situated at A-Block, Vikas Bhawan, I.P. Estate, New Delhi (also known as State Commission), under the Consumer Protection Act 1986.  The function of this Commission is to entertain

(i)             Complaints where the value of the goods or services and compensation, if any, claimed exceeds Rs. 20 lacs to one crore; and subject to other provisions of this Act, the District Forum shall have jurisdiction to certain complaints wheres the value of the goods or services and the compensation, if any, claimed does not exceed rupees twenty Lakhs.

(ii)            Appeals against the orders of District Forum, functioning in Delhi; and

(iii)           To call for the records and pass appropriate orders in any dispute which is pending before or has been decided by the District Forum where it appears to the State Commission that such District Forum has exercised a jurisdiction not vested in it by law, or its jurisdiction illegally or with material irregularity.

 

II.             The President and the Members preside over the Bench to hear the complaints and appeals and pass the orders. Besides these, there is Registry, where fresh complaints, appeals, execution petitions are filed. There is separate section for complaints and appeals, where respective records are maintained and the Record Room where record of disposed off cases are maintained.

III.            The Bench decide the cases after giving due opportunities to both the complainants and respondents. 

IV.            This office work under the Provision of the Consumer Protection Act 1986.

V.             The functions are discharged as per the above Act.

VI.            The case files are maintained by giving a serial number/year of filing to each case and all related documents pertaining to the case are kept in respective files. 

VII.           No such arrangement is available for formulation of its policy with the members of the Public.          

VIII.         In certain cases where Medical Experts/opinion is required then the cases are referred to Medical Boards.
