Court
Fees
In the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, as initially enacted by the legislature,
there was no provision for any court fee/fees. But experience has shown
that undue advantage of the above provision was being taken by some persons,
by filing frivolous complaints. With a view to provide a check, the framers
of the legislation have amended the Act and as per the provisions of the
Consumer Protection (Amendment) Act, 2003, which has come into force w.e.f.
15.3.2003, it has been provided that every complaint filed under the Act
shall be accompanied with such amount of fees payable in such manner as
may be prescribed.
